GSE United States History covers early English settlement and colonization, independence and the birth of the nation, and modern American history, placing special emphasis on the political, economic, social, and cultural development of the United States. The course assignments reflect several connecting themes found in U.S. history, including Beliefs and Ideals; Conflict and Change; Culture; Distribution of Power; Individuals, Groups, and Institutions; Location; Movement/Migration; and Production, Distribution, and Consumption. Additionally, students will gain practice in writing essays, covering such topics as the thirteen colonies, constitutional amendments, foreign policy, and technological innovations.
