Angela Maiers Tells Attendees, Award Recipients "You Matter"

CHANDLER, AZ -- June 27, 2018 -- Five inspirational educators from across the country have been revealed as winners in the first-ever Educator Impact Awards created by Odysseyware®, a leading provider of customizable online content and curriculum for K-12 education. The winners, hailing from Connecticut to Arkansas, were selected among other highly-skilled finalists for their use of Odysseyware programs in unique and beneficial ways to inspire students to reach their greatest potential.

Finalists, ISTE Conference attendees and other change-making educators joined the Odysseyware team at Untitled Supper Club in Chicago on June 26 to celebrate some of the nation’s most innovative teachers and listen to special keynote speaker, Angela Maiers deliver her inspirational “You Matter” speech. Maiers is a world-renowned author, entrepreneur, international keynote speaker and educator. She has been creating and leading change in education and enterprise for 31 years, teaching every level of school from grade school to graduate school and consulting with companies around the world.

“These winners are true embodiments of what I encourage every day,” said Maiers. “I am thrilled to be able to be part of such an inspiring event that honors the some of the most passionate and committed educators in the country.”

Winners included:

  • Danielle Lattrell, Special Education Teacher, Wamogo Regional High School, CT Regional School District #6, Litchfield, CT 06759, Competency Learning
  • Sandra Ledbetter, 6th grade teacher, Henderson Middle School, Little Rock School District, AR 72205, Blended Learning
  • Amy Turgeon, Virtual Learning Coordinator, Sanford High School, Sanford School District, Sanford, ME 04073, Alternative Education
  • Linda Williams, Business Education Instructor, Cordova High, Shelby County Schools, Cordova, TN 38016, Career Technical Education

In addition to the five winners, two finalists were there in person to be receive their awards - Rhonda Naylor, social studies teacher at STARS Accelerated High School in Granbury, Texas and Chad Chisolm, fourth and fifth grade teacher at Smith-Barnes Elementary in Stockbridge, Georgia. Naylor was honored for her exemplary work in alternative education, and Chisolm for his strides in blended learning, with ClassPace.

Matthew Given, CEO of Glynlyon, Odysseyware’s parent company, was on-site and a presenter at the event. Educator Impact Award winners will receive: a mobile charging cart from Spectrum Industries, Inc.; a $500 stipend toward ISTE conference travel or attendance; and a Chromebook; as well as their choice of an Odysseyware Online Professional Development AODT site license and two webinar hours; or an Odysseyware ClassPace Blended Learning solution school license and a one-day Face-to-Face Professional Development. Each category’s runners-up will be recognized on the Odysseyware website and receive a gift of appreciation for their commitment to the children they serve.
