Hot Springs High Chooses ODYSSEYWARE

Starting in 2009, a new law took effect in South Dakota requiring high school students to stay in school until age 18. Not the only state to follow the trend of raising the legal age to drop out, South Dakota educators are asking themselves how they can get students back and offer them the sort of program that will not only allow them to get a diploma, but make it realistic and practical.

According to a recent article in the Hot Springs Star, (Credit Recovery Program Has Successful First Year), Hot Springs students are coming back to school and earning credits through a successful credit recovery program. As quoted in the article, educator Alicia Rogan said,

“Kids who struggled before have blossomed in the smaller student to teacher ratio in Credit Recovery. Some need a helping hand, not to pull them along, but to give a nudge forward.”

To further improve the program, Hot Springs will be implementing ODYSSEYWARE® in the upcoming school year, a change that causes excitement for both students and teachers. And with good reason. ODYSSEYWARE’s Prescriptive Credit Recovery program allows students to get back up to speed without repeating material they have already mastered. Instead, they focus on the instruction that will help them complete core courses to earn credits toward graduation.
